Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 13, 2026

Mooneroid(“we”, “us”, or “our”) develops apps including APRSJockey (collectively, the “Apps”). This Privacy Policy explains what information the Apps collect, how it is used, and your choices regarding that information.

Information We Collect

We design our Apps to collect as little information as possible.

  • Location data.APRSJockey uses your device’s GPS location to determine your position for display on the map and, if you choose to enable beaconing, to transmit your position over the Automatic Packet Reporting System (APRS) network. Location access is only used while you are actively using the app or have beaconing enabled, and you can disable location access at any time in iOS Settings.
  • Amateur radio callsign and station information. If you enter a callsign, SSID, comment, or similar identifying information, it is used to identify your station on the APRS network, exactly as it would be over the air. This information is inherently public — APRS is a broadcast protocol, and any position, message, or status you transmit is visible to other amateur radio operators and to public APRS-IS services (such as aprs.fi).
  • Messages. Any APRS messages you send or receive through the app are transmitted over the APRS network (via radio and/or APRS-IS) and are not stored on our servers, because we do not operate any servers that process your data.
  • Diagnostic data. If the App crashes, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash logs through App Store Connect. We use this solely to fix bugs and do not use it to identify you.

What We Don’t Do

  • We do not run our own servers that collect or store your data.
  • We do not sell your data to third parties.
  • We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites.

Third-Party Services

APRSJockey connects to the amateur radio APRS network, including APRS-IS servers operated by the amateur radio community, in order to send and receive position reports and messages. Information transmitted over APRS is public by design and governed by amateur radio regulations rather than by this Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review the policies of any APRS-IS service you connect through (such as aprs.fi) for details on how they handle data.

Data Storage

Settings such as your callsign, preferences, and cached map data are stored locally on your device. We do not have access to this information.

Children’s Privacy

Our Apps are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
